Day 2 of the Laver Cup in San Francisco begins with a high-stakes singles match between Alexander Zverev of Team Europe and Alex de Minaur of Team World. Zverev, ranked No.3 in the world, will look to extend Europe’s lead, while De Minaur aims to bring momentum back to the home side.

“Every match counts double today, so we need to be sharp from the first point,” said Zverev ahead of the clash.

Rune faces Cerundolo in second singles match

The second match of the day features Holger Rune taking on Francisco Cerundolo. Rune, known for his aggressive baseline play, will be tested by Cerundolo’s consistency and experience. Both players are making their second Laver Cup appearance and are expected to deliver a tightly contested battle.

“I’m ready to fight for every point. The team energy is amazing,” said Rune.

Alcaraz vs Fritz headlines the night session

The marquee matchup of Day 2 sees world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz face off against Taylor Fritz in a rematch of last year’s deciding singles match. Alcaraz won that clash to seal the title for Team Europe and will be looking to repeat the feat in front of a packed Chase Center.

“Playing Taylor is always intense. We both know what’s at stake,” said Alcaraz.

Rune and Ruud team up for doubles

The final match of the day will feature Holger Rune and Casper Ruud representing Team Europe against Alex de Minaur and Alex Michelsen for Team World. With each win on Saturday worth two points, this doubles clash could prove decisive in shaping the weekend’s momentum.

“We’re ready to bring energy and finish strong. Doubles is all about chemistry,” said Ruud.
