Joao Fonseca made history at the Laver Cup, becoming the youngest player ever to score a point for Team World. The 17-year-old Brazilian overcame Italy’s Flavio Cobolli 6-4, 6-3 in a composed and confident performance that electrified the crowd and gave his team a much-needed boost.

Fonseca’s aggressive forehand and sharp movement kept Cobolli under pressure throughout the match. With each passing game, the teenager grew in confidence, eventually sealing the win with a clean service game that sent his teammates into celebration.

Earlier Matches: Europe Strikes First

Before Fonseca’s victory, Team Europe had taken control of the day’s early matches. Czech rising star Jakub Mensik opened the session with a solid win over Alex Michelsen, prevailing 6-1 6-7 10-8. Mensik’s serve and baseline consistency proved too much for the American, giving Europe the initial lead.

Casper Ruud followed up with a dominant display against Reilly Opelka, winning 6-4, 7-6. The Norwegian’s court coverage and tactical precision left little room for Opelka’s power game to flourish.
