Borna Coric is on his way back… big time!
The Croatian suffered from a bad slump in the rankings after falling from being the world no.33 to the current 79. Eventually, Borna found his way back in Marrakech where he won his first ATP title after a thriller.
The final
Borna was in a desperate situation many times in the final against Philipp Kohlschreiber. At first, he recovered from a horrible 5-7 0-3 scoreline. Then, when he was 5-7 5-6 down, he saved five match points to win the second set at the breaker. The Croatian had to recover from a 2-4 deficit in the third set, to finally found the solution and win the match 5-7 7-6 (3) 7-5 after 2 hours and 38 minutes.

It’s my biggest comeback. CORIC
In the post-match press conference, Borna commented
“I would say that’s my biggest comeback, I’ve never saved five match points. Especially, in such an important match, I served very well on the big points. It’s an awesome feeling. I didn’t know what to expect when I came here, and I wasn’t in the best shape. But I’ve been working very hard the past three or four months, and now it’s paying off.”
Borna won this match even if he scored 2 points less than his opponent (113 vs. 115). Well done!
