Denis Shapovalov and Mirjam Björklund are officially married. The tennis couple tied the knot in a picturesque ceremony at the Lesante Cape Hotel in Akrotiri, Greece, surrounded by 30 close friends and family members. The four-day celebration featured sunlit views of the Ionian Sea, heartfelt vows, and a joyful atmosphere. “It was truly as amazing as we envisioned when we chose Lesante Cape for our wedding venue,” said Björklund. “The weather was incredible and every moment was picture-perfect.”

A personal and playful ceremony

The bride wore a strapless gown by Ukrainian designer Milla Nova, while Shapovalov and his groomsmen were dressed in tailored J. Lindeberg suits. One guest unexpectedly matched the groomsmen, earning the title of honorary sixth. Their dog Yatzy also joined the festivities in a custom tuxedo. “Every day we had in Zakynthos with our close friends and family was better than we could have ever asked for,” said Shapovalov. “I’m so excited I got to marry my best friend in such an incredible setting.”

A choreographed first dance and unforgettable moments

The reception featured a choreographed first dance inspired by the movie The Wedding Ringer, with Björklund performing a backflip to surprise their guests. “I think all our guests knew we were not going to do a slow dance, but I don’t think anyone expected that,” she said. The couple’s energy and creativity turned the evening into a celebration of joy, laughter, and shared memories.

From Stockholm to Zakynthos: a journey together

Shapovalov and Björklund first met in 2019 at the Stockholm Open and got engaged in 2023 on a beach in Båstad, Sweden. Their relationship grew through shared experiences on and off the court, including travel, recovery from injuries, and the addition of their dog Yatzy. “Walking down the aisle, I felt calmer than I expected,”

Björklund shared. “I was just super excited to marry Denis. He is my best friend.”

A new chapter begins

With their wedding now behind them, the couple looks ahead to a future filled with tennis, travel, and partnership. “It feels like the most beautiful start to our marriage, and we are so excited to spend forever together,”

Björklund said. Shapovalov echoed the sentiment, smiling through every moment of the celebration. Their union marks not just a milestone in their personal lives, but a joyful reminder of love’s place in the world of sport.
