On September 18, 2025, the Chase Center in San Francisco hosted an electrifying Laver Cup Open Practice Day, giving fans a rare glimpse into the final preparations of some of the world’s top tennis players. The event featured standout names from both Team Europe and Team World, including Francisco Cerundolo, Alex de Minaur, Reilly Opelka, Taylor Fritz, Sasha Zverev, and rising star Jakub Menšík. “It’s a dream to be part of this team and feel the energy of the Laver Cup,” said Menšík, who is making his debut in the competition.

A packed schedule and vibrant atmosphere

The practice sessions were split between the two teams, with Team World taking the court from 12 to 1 p.m., followed by Team Europe from 1 to 2 p.m. Fans were treated to high-intensity drills, courtside interviews, and music that added to the festive atmosphere. “This is more than just practice—it’s a celebration of tennis,” said Taylor Fritz, who returns to Team World with confidence and experience.

Inspiring the next generation

More than 2,000 children from local schools and tennis programs across the Bay Area were invited to attend the event, part of the Laver Cup’s Community Legacy Project. The initiative aims to inspire young athletes and expand access to world-class tennis. “Seeing these kids in the stands, cheering and dreaming—it’s what this sport is all about,” said Francisco Cerundolo, who is competing in his third Laver Cup.

Final touches before the showdown

With the main competition kicking off on September 19, the practice day served as a crucial moment for players to fine-tune their strategies and build team chemistry. Sasha Zverev, a veteran of the event, looked sharp and focused as he led Team Europe’s drills. “We’re here to win, but we’re also here to enjoy every moment,”

Zverev said, reflecting the spirit of camaraderie that defines the Laver Cup.

A celebration of sport and community

The 2025 Laver Cup Open Practice Day combined elite performance with meaningful outreach, setting the tone for what promises to be a thrilling weekend of tennis. With legends like Andre Agassi and Yannick Noah guiding their squads, and a crowd buzzing with anticipation, San Francisco has embraced the Laver Cup with open arms. “This city knows how to host a show, and we’re ready to deliver,”

said Reilly Opelka, summing up the mood as the teams prepare for battle.
