Jack managed to edge Feliciano Lopez 7-6 (6) 1-6 6-4 in the quarters. The most crucial moment of the match was when Jack recovered a 1-5 deficit in the first set tiebreak to win at 6. Sock will play Johnson next.
Steve had a comfortable ride in the quarters after he defeated Fernando Verdasco 6-2 6-4. No big dramas in this match.
The 20-year-old had a fantastic quarter against former American no.1 John Isner. Ernesto defeated John 7-6 (6) 6-7 (6) 7-6 (5) in a match that lasted 3 hours. Isner couldn’t win this encounter even if he blasted 35 aces.
“I’m speechless right now. I can’t believe it. It was a very long match, three tie-breaks. I just stuck with it. I just told myself it’s going to happen, just keep on pushing, stay mentally tough.” Escobedo commented.
