The 6 Kings Slam, widely regarded as one of the most controversial events in professional tennis, will return this October with a new broadcasting partner. Netflix has acquired the rights to stream the second edition of the tournament, expanding its footprint in live sports coverage.
A Lavish Exhibition in Riyadh
Backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the tournament brings together six of the top male players for a series of exhibition matches in Riyadh. Each participant is guaranteed over £1 million simply for appearing, regardless of match outcomes. The format remains unannounced, but the financial incentives have drawn attention across the tennis world.
Criticism and Controversy
The event has faced criticism for its extravagant payouts and limited competitive structure. Andy Murray previously dismissed the tournament, remarking that “nobody cares” about it. Despite such skepticism, the tournament continues to attract elite talent and significant investment.
Star-Studded Lineup Returns
Jannik Sinner, who won last year’s edition by defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final, earned $6 million for just three matches. Both players will return in 2025, joined by Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Jack Draper, and Taylor Fritz. The tournament is scheduled to run from October 15 to 18.
Netflix Expands Its Sports Portfolio
Netflix’s involvement marks another step in its strategy to enter the live sports arena. The streaming giant promises “unparalleled access” with over 20 advanced cameras capturing every angle of the event. This move follows previous ventures into boxing, golf, WWE, and the NFL, signaling a growing commitment to sports entertainment.
