Team USA will clash against Team Australian in the upcoming Davis Cup quarters. Even if Jim Courier, the American captain, has a good contingent with an in-form Jack Sock and John Isner, the former world no.1 is well aware that it is going to be difficult to beat Nick Kyrgios.
The young Australian has recently defeated Novak Djokovic back to back in Acapulco and Indian Wells (both times in straight sets), and he was extremely close to beat Roger Federer in Miami.
It would be tough beating Kyrgios. COURIER
During a recent interview in Brisbane, Jim commented
“Nick has been playing some of the best tennis on tour already this season so he’s in great form and should have a lot of confidence. So we’re going to have to do something special to beat him.
He’s started off probably not the way he wanted to at the Australian Open, going out early, but since then he’s been a house on fire. So he’s playing right there, I mean, he’s right there with Federer, and (Federer) has been the best player this season, so it’s impressive.”
The tie will take place at the Rafter Arena (Brisbane) the upcoming weekend. Team Australia will play with Kyrgios, Thompson, Groth and Peers. The American team will feature Sock, Isner, Querrey, and Johnson.
