Nadal wins the 2012 title in Rome – Youtube – BNL Internazionali d’Italia

Rafa got it right again with Novak!

The terrible losing streak it’s definately over. The Spaniard beats Novak for the second consecutive time after the final in Montecarlo to become again the favourite to win the French Open. Novak did not manage to win a single title on the clay this year.

The match had interesting points with Rafa showing from  the very beginning his hunger for this title. The Spaniard had 100% control on the match managing to show once again his incredible ability to convert defence in attack on the dirt. Novak’s body language showed that now he is the one to  mentally struggle during his clashes with Rafa.

The first set was decided in the 11th game when Rafa managed to break the Serb to then hold his serve. Then the King of Clay broke again Nole to take an early  2-0 lead in the second set. The world no.1 was really  struggling to cope with Rafa to capitulate in the 9th game with his 4th double fault to give the title to Rafa.

“I am happy that I won in Rome without losing a set against the best players in the world like Berdych and Ferrer and Djokovic,” said Nadal. “I will have this trophy in my bedroom. It is a dream. The confidence I am playing well and this comes when I play at the right level. Hopefully I will keep playing like this.”

“He is always the favourite, even if I win against him seven times; he is the best player in the world on this surface,” said Djokovic. “I think that the match today was quite close, even if he won in straight sets. If you don’t use the opportunities against Rafa he gets momentum. I made a lot of errors which should not happen when you play against Nadal. I will go to Paris with confidence and I played a great week.”
