Rafael Nadal decided not to compete in Cincinnati, but that didn’t undermine his leadership in the Year to Date Rankings.
Novak Djokovic is still leading the “normal” rankings with 12,325 points over Nadal (7945 points). However, it’s the Spaniard that has the overall best performance in the year.
Year to date rankings: Nadal vs. Djokovic
The Spanish sensation has 7225 YTD points vs. Djokovic’s 6725. In terms of live points, Rafa is still stuck at 7225 points because he didn’t play in Ohio while Djokovic has now 7085 live YTD points after he reached the semifinal in Cincinnati before losing to Daniil Medvedev. Roger Federer is still behind both of them with just 5150 live YTD points
This means that the Serbian has no opportunity to overtake Rafa in the Race to London after this week.
Still, both players have already qualified for the ATP Finals, but it is going to be interesting to see who will eventually prevail for the world no.1 rank.
