Roger Federer survives an extremely complicated match against Tomas Berdych.
Everything looked very smooth for Roger especially after he breezed in the opening set before winning 6-2. Things got a bit more difficult for the Maestro after he lost the second set, but Roger looked to be in charge again after he got a 5-2 lead in the decider. Eventually, the Swiss failed to serve out the match when he was leading 5-3 (he was broken at love) and soon after he failed to convert a match point on Tomas’ serve (4-5). In the breaker, Roger looked doomed to another heartbreaking loss when he was facing two consecutive match points (4-6). Finally, Roger found his way back to win the next 4 points a conquer the match after 2 hours. The final score was 6-2 3-6 7-6 (6). Federer won this contest even if he scored two points less than Tomas.

Roger admitted that he was a bit lucky, but he has found the way not to be on the losing side after having the match in his hands. The Swiss commented
“I’ve had some tough losses here where I should have won, like against Tomas a few years ago and also against Nishikori, and they stay with you. I’m happy to have through today. I definitely got very lucky at the end, but I think I showed great heart today. I fought, and Tomas definitely started to step it up, but it was a great match at the end.”

Roger will play Nick Kyrgios for a place in the final. The head to head is 1-0 for Nick.
