Fognini shocks Nishikori in 67 minutes.

Fabio Fognini is playing one of the best tennis of his career in Miami. The Italian has already impressed after he defeated in the 4th round in-form Donald Young and on Wednesday he surprised again after he beat the world no.4 Kei Nishikori 6-4 6-2.

Fabio had a relatively smooth match against the Japanese after he grabbed a quick lead in both sets (4-1 in the 1st, 5-1 in the 2nd). Eventually, the Italian lost a bit of a focus at the end of both sets when he conceded his serve, but everything looked easy, and Fabio clinched the match in just 67 minutes.

I am just focused on my game. FOGNINI

The Italian commented

“At the moment, I’m just happy. Of course, this is a big, big tournament for me. I’m feeling really good on court and other times, so this is the best thing that I can have this week. I’m happy about my performance. Of course, the result is positive. It’s like a dream maybe. I’m just trying to be focused on my game and do my best.”

The semi-final against Nadal

Fabio will play Rafael Nadal in the semifinal. The head to head is 7-3 for Rafa, but it’s 3-all in the last six matches.
