“There’s one more to go”. This was Maria’s comment after her inspiring win over Kerber.
The Russian was in complete control during the entire match to win an easy first set 6-3. After another couple exchange of breaks in the second set, Maria got also an easy 2 set by 6-4.
“I’m extremely happy with the way I’ve progressed in this tournament.I started off a little slow but I’ve had a number of tough matches and I’ve continued to improve.” Said Sharapova.
Talking about her match with Li Na and her defeat at the hands of Chinese last year at the French Open. “That was a tough one for me and this is a tough match-up for me,” Maria said.”I’ve had tough battles against her but I’m not looking back to that loss, though. It’s about tomorrow.”
Li Na got to the final due to Serena’s injury to the back (see article). “Of course I’m happy to reach the final but I don’t like winning like that,” the Chinese said.
Head to head is 6-4 for Sharapova, 1-1 on clay.
