Nick Kyrgios had to hold his nerves against Ivo Karlovic in Miami to win a tight three setter. After splitting the first two sets, everything went down to the decider. Nick didn’t find the solution (i.e. a break ) in the third set, but he won a relatively smooth breaker at 2. The final result was 6-4 6-7 (4) 7-6 (2). Probably the most crucial moment of the match was when Nick saved a break point in the third set with an amazing passing shot.
Even if Nick had a couple of (trademark) outbursts, he impressed because he found the patience to wait for the right moment to strike at the Croatian.
Next vs. Goffin
Nick will face Goffin for a place in the quarters. The head to head is 1-0 for Nick that has defeated the Belgian in last year’s final in Tokyo. This 4th round is going to be an interesting match.
