Federer beats Del Potro in straight sets

Once again Roger Federer weathers a (possible) storm without many problems. In Indian Wells, the Swiss legend came out from the “quarter of death” after playing only slightly more than 1 hour after defeating Nadal in straight sets and Kyrgios retired before facing the Maestro. In Miami, Roger had a “terrible” 3rd round against Juan Martin Del Potro to dismiss the Argentine 6-3 6-4 in 82 minutes.

Roger had to break Delpo once per set to win this match. Probably the most critical moment of the contest was when Federer saved four break points when he was serving for the first set (5-3) before winning the opener.

The key was being the aggressor. FEDERER

After the match, Roger explained why he deserved the win. The Swiss commented

“I feel like I earned it more. I was more the aggressor. It was more my racket, and I like it that way.

It was really a great, nice atmosphere. It was a lot of pleasure playing in nice weather, great opponent, great crowd. What else do you need?”

Next vs. Bautista-Agut

Roger will play Roberto Bautista Agut for a place in the quarters. The head to head is 5-0 for Roger (12-0 regarding sets). The Spaniard has never won more than four games per sets against Federer.
