Federer to become world no.4 after Miami?

Roger Federer is well on his way back to the top of the rankings. After his long hiatus in 2106, Roger had to start the season as world no.17 to be ranked no.6 after winning the Australian Open and Miami. The Swiss legend can go for more after Miami.

Why Roger can be back to no.4

After Raonic pulled out from the Miami Open, it is guaranteed that Federer will overtake the Canadian after the tournament. That means that Roger should be world no.5. Nishikori (world no.4) has to defend 600 points in Florida, that means that Kei “starts” from 4130pts (the actual 4730pts – 600) while Roger, that has to defend no points, will “start” from 4305pts.

Therefore, if Roger is not outperformed in Miami by either Nishikori or Nadal (that is already ranked lower that Federer), the Swiss will be the new world no.4.

Let’s see how this is going to develop.
