If calling another player an “a**hole” can be done in a good way; Stan Wawrinka got away with it after the final of Indian Wells.
During his closing comments after losing to Roger Federer, Wawrinka said “I would like to congratulate Roger … he’s laughing. He’s an a**hole, but it’s okay.” After quick camera cut, Federer laughed.

And a Crying Baby?
However, neither Federer nor Wawrinka were laughing back in 2014 when both were playing at the year- end finale at the O2 in England. The trouble started when Federer’s wife called Wawrinka a “cry baby” during the match. Wawrinka heard this and complained to the umpire.
During a changeover, Wawrinka said ‘She did the same at Wimbledon. Each time I’m on her side she yells before every time I serve.’
After the match, officials had to intervene in a locker room argument between Roger and Stan. The plus 10 -minute loud discussion ended with Federer and Wawrinka putting on a united front. After all the Swiss duo were set to compete later that year in the Davis Cup, which they won.
So considering the turbulent past of Federer and Wawrinka, maybe being called an “a**hole” is a sign of good-natured ribbing between two friends who have reached the top of their game.
