Grigor Dimitrov has officially pulled out of the upcoming US Open, ending his remarkable streak of 58 consecutive Grand Slam main draw appearances. The Bulgarian veteran sustained a chest muscle injury during his match against Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon, forcing him to retire mid-match. This marks the fifth straight major where Dimitrov has either withdrawn or failed to finish a match.

His absence from the tournament not only closes a chapter in his consistent Grand Slam participation but also opens the door for new contenders to step in.

Alejandro Tabilo steps into the spotlight

With Dimitrov out, Chilean player Alejandro Tabilo has been granted a spot in the men’s singles main draw. Ranked just outside the top 100, Tabilo has shown flashes of potential on the ATP Tour and now has a chance to prove himself on one of tennis’s biggest stages. The tournament begins on August 24 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.

Brandon Holt waits in the wings

Brandon Holt, an American player and son of two-time US Open champion Tracy Austin, is next in line should another withdrawal occur. Holt made headlines in 2022 when he upset Taylor Fritz at Flushing Meadows. His steady rise and family legacy make him a compelling figure to watch as the draw continues to evolve.
