During a recent interview with the Tennis Channel, Coco Gauff opened up about a thrilling experience she had while exploring Central Florida. Known for her fearless attitude on the court, Gauff revealed that her courage extends beyond tennis—into the wild waters of Florida springs.

Kayaking with Gators

Gauff described her trip as a first-time visit to Central Florida, where she and her group went kayaking. The highlight? A close encounter with an alligator. “We drove up to Central Florida. I’ve never been up there. But it was great. We went up there. We went kayaking. I was out there with the gators,” she said. Despite the potential danger, Gauff remained calm and enjoyed the experience.

Swimming in the Springs

Not only did she kayak near gators, but she also swam in the springs. “I was swimming in the springs and it was great. I saw a gator while we were in the kayak,” she recalled. Her relaxed attitude toward the encounter showed her trust in the guide and her ability to stay composed.

Trusting the Guide

Gauff credited her guide for helping her feel safe. “I trusted our guide and he was like, you know, if you don’t bother them, they won’t bother you,” she explained. The gator seemed uninterested in the group and even changed direction to avoid them. “We were swimming in the same direction and then he kind of saw that and then he turned around and went the other way. I think he’s more scared of us. But I was on the kayak so I felt okay.”

A Glimpse of Gauff’s Adventurous Side

This story offered fans a glimpse into Gauff’s adventurous spirit off the court. Her calm demeanor and willingness to embrace nature reflect the same poise she brings to her matches. Whether facing a top seed or a gator, Coco Gauff continues to show she’s up for any challenge.
