Vesnina, Kuznetsova to play an all-Russian final in Indian Wells

Elena Vesnina and Svetlana Kuznetsova will fight for the title in Indian Wells.

Vesnina

Elena has always shined in doubles, but things are changing now. The 30-years-old reaches the most important final of her career after beating Angelique Kerber (that will be ranked no.1 after this week), Venus Williams, and now an in-form Kristina Mladenovic in the semifinal.

Elena had a fantastic start in both sets (5-0 and 3-0) to easily win the match 6-3 6-4 in just 1 hour and a half. This is Elena’s 10th final, and she will try to win her 3rd career title (the first two were in Hobart and Eastbourne both in 2013).

Kuznetsova

The former world no.2 played an extremely solid match against the world no.3 Karolina Pliskova to win the contest after a double breaker 7-6 (5) 7-6 (2).

The head to head

The head to head is 1-all. Vesnina has won their only encounter on hard courts, but that was eight years ago in Dubai). Kuznetsova is the hot favorite to win this one.
