Federer in the Indian Wells semi-final after Kyrgios retires

Roger Federer is the winner of the so-called “quarter of death.” The tennis community was mesmerized on seeing that Federer, Nadal, Del Potro, Djokovic, Kyrgios, and Zverev were all packed in the same quarter. Eventually, one man did it and without much struggle: Roger Federer.

The Swiss impressed after he brushed aside Rafael Nadal in 68 minutes (6-2 6-3) in the 4th round and he had a much easier “run” in the quarters against Nick Kyrgios that forfeited citing illness. So, no much struggle in winning the “quarter of death.”

The communicate from Kyrgios

In a sad communicate, Nick gave the explanation of his retirement

“Unfortunately, I am unable to play today due to sickness. At this stage, we think it’s food poisoning, and I’m praying it’s nothing more. After a restless night of being sick I have nothing left and to play a great champion like Roger, I need to be at my best to have a chance. I don’t take this decision lightly, these are the matches we train for, but I’m in no fit state to take to the court.

I’m sorry to the fans that I’m unable to take to the court, but I have to put my health first, and I hope you understand. I want to wish Roger the best of luck for the rest of the tournament and thank everyone for their support so far here at the BNP Paribas Open. I will definitely be back. Thank you.”

Federer tweeted back to say “Hope you feel better @NickKyrgios,”

LET’S HOPE IT WAS THIS THE CAUSE OF THE ILLNESS 🙂
