Why Murray will still smile after Indian Wells

Andy Murray had a rather lousy experience in Indian Wells after he crashed in the opener against Vasek Pospisil, but the Brit has something to smile still.

Andy had only a few points to defend in the desert (45) while the world no.2, Novak Djokovic, had to defend 1000pts. Eventually, also Nole crashed out early after losing in the 4th round to Nick Kyrgios.

That means that Andy has lost 20pts (25-45) while Djokovic dropped 910pts (90-1000). Therefore, Andy gains 890pts (910-20) over Djokovic, and he will have an overall lead of 3105pts on the Serbian.

The problem for Andy is that if he wants to retain his world no.1 status, he needs to also have a look at the other players (especially Federer). Sooner or later Andy needs to deliver.

In the meantime, he can smile.
