Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina are enjoying their life off and on-line.
On court (and offline) they are achieving great results. Gael is now solidly in the top20 even if he has been battling with his injuries, while Elina is a solid top10 player. The Ukranian managed to bounce back in style after her knee injury to reach the semifinal in Wimbledon before losing to Simona Halep in straight sets.
Gael and Elina are having fun also on social media after they decided to make public their romantic involvement to even create a joint Instagram account (GEMS LIfe). The idea of the account is to narrate their life and what happens behind the curtains.
Why Svitolina and Monfils are happy about the GEMS account
The couple has always professed their interest in the reaction of the tennis fans to their on-line activity and so far they are pretty happy. Elina commented:
“There are fewer people who leave negative comments when we lose. That’s what we’ve noticed, and that’s maybe why we spend a little more time there! There’s not a big difference. We get lots of support. It’s so nice. We didn’t expect that much support from just doing the GEMS account. We have people who take care of our social media, but you can’t escape negative comments because it’s obvious that it’s there.”

Both Elina and Gael are currently in Cincinnati. While the Frenchman crashed out in the opener to Frances Tiafoe, the Ukrainian is still competing as she will face Sofia Kenin in the 3rd round. Gael should be in her box, cheering for as usual. This is GEMS life.
