Federer beats Johansson to play Nadal in Indian Wells

It’s Federer – Nadal once again.

Roger Federer had to overcome a tricky Steve Johnson in the Indian Wells 3rd round before setting up the clash against Rafa.  The Swiss didn’t concede a single break point to the American, but he wasn’t able also to convert any of the four break points conceded by the American no.4. Therefore, everything went to a double breaker, and the Maestro was razor sharp in both occasions. The final score was 7-6 (3) 7-6 (4).

The good news for the Swiss is that the contest lasted only 94 minutes so that he won’t struggle with his energy level tomorrow against Rafa.

The match against Nadal

Roger’s record with Rafa is not great (12-23 win-loss), but the Maestro has beaten his nemesis in the last two encounters. Interesting enough, Roger has never defeated Rafa 3 consecutive times, but Nadal hasn’t beaten Federer in the last three years (last time it was in the Australian Open semi-final in 2014). Roger has recently defeated Rafa in an amazing Australian Open final in 5 sets.

Game on!
