INCREDIBLE STORY. Evans finally sponsored by Ellesse

What an incredible story!

The world no.41 and British no.2, Daniel Evans, was dropped by Nike that refused to renew his contract after December. Therefore, Dan had to go and buy his tennis clothes at the shop like an ordinary amateur. This is quite odd for the circuit also especially after he had excellent results during his “sponsorless” 2017 to reach the final in Sydney and the 4th round at the Australian Open. During these runs, Evans has also claimed the scalp two top ten players (Thiem and Cilic).

Buying shirts at the store???

During an interview in January, Evans explained what he had to do in Melbourne

“I just went to the Uniqlo store and bought a load of clothes the other day, plain clothes. The shirts are AUS$19.99. I bought about 18, something like that. I went back this morning to buy some more; they’re not the best quality to sweat in and wash them.

The Nike deal stopped at the end of December. I obviously wanted to renew. There are no offers at the minute anyway. We’ll see. Another win, I might get one.”

Finally, Dan had a deal with Ellesse, and now he doesn’t need to go anymore to buy his shirts.

That’s weird, isn’t it?
