Djokovic, Del Potro to clash in Indian Wells

Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin Del Potro will add another chapter to the book of their rivalry. Even if the world no.2 enjoys an excellent record against the Argentine (12-4), Delpo has recently proved that he can beat Nole anytime as he did in Rio last summer. But Djokovic has recently defeated Juan Martin in the second round in Acapulco after rallying from 1 set down (4-6 6-4 6-4).

Djokovic

Djokovic has shown once again his resilience to after he defeated Kyle Edmund 6-4 7-6(5) after the Briton failed to serve out the second set when he was leading 5-3.

After the match, Nole commented

“I think I played very well in the first set. The second set was obviously up and down. But credit to Kyle for playing some really aggressive tennis and taking it all out. He made a lot of winners in the beginning and midway through the second.

There was not much wrong I did. I did miss some forehands. But other than that, it was a very solid match. Good, quality tennis, a good test. I’m just pleased with the overall performance.”

Del Potro

Now (falsely) ranked no.35, Del Potro has reached the 3rd round in Indian Wells after he beat his friend and compatriot Federico Delbonis 7-6 (5) 6-3.
