Even if pair reshuffles are becoming more frequent in sports, Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger’s split nonetheless caught both fans and insiders off guard. Born in 2004, the pair had established one of the Premier Padel circuit’s most promising alliances. Unquestionably, they worked well together on the court, and they soon gained notoriety by defeating the top three ranked couples, something that few could have imagined at the beginning of the season.

Cardona’s Response

Their collaboration ended suddenly in Malaga, right before the San Sebastian PPL tournament. In an interview for ‘La Casa del Padel’ with Adri Illescas, Cardona expressed his opinions, saying that Augsburger told him about the choice while they were driving. When we were driving to San Sebastian to play in the PPL, he informed me that he would be playing with Di Nenno. I’m not sure if it caught me off guard, but I also didn’t think much of it,” Cardona remarked. He emphasizes that playing well is his first objective so that his teammate may play well as well, keeping his attention on his own performance and development.

This is what he said:  “He told me he was going to play with Di Nenno when we were in the car to San Sebastian to play in the PPL. I don’t know if it took me by surprise or not, but I

didn’t give it much importance either . I’ve always focused on myself, I focus on playing well myself so that my teammate can play well and get the results.”

Respect for One Another Outside of the Court

Despite the abrupt shift, Cardona showed no resentment. Rather, he emphasized the close relationship he had with Augsburger. “We’ve discussed things in person, and Leo has always been truthful with me. I believe he is as happy with his squad as I am with mine. Our families are no different. It’s also pleasant that the relationship we display is the one we actually have. This mature perspective shows a deeper comprehension of the intricacies of the sport and the significance of upholding friendship and respect.

Towards the Future with Tello

Cardona is already making progress, getting ready to compete alongside Juan Tello at the Tarragona P1 event. It’s interesting that the two players had previously been connected by way of their coach, Seba Nerone, which might facilitate the changeover and promote a solid working relationship. Cardona appears well-suited to handle this new phase of his career because of his composed manner and performance-focused approach.
