Alexander Zverev recently spent ten intensive days training at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca, working alongside Toni Nadal. The world No 3 described the experience as highly rewarding, both physically and mentally, and said that Nadal seemed to enjoy the process as well. Videos of the duo on court sparked rumors of a coaching arrangement, fueled by Nadal’s prominent position within the academy.

This is what he said: “The time in Mallorca was amazing. I spent about 10 days there, and worked really hard and enjoyed it as well. I think Toni enjoyed it probably as well.

I’m trying to convince him (smiling) to do more weeks with me, and we’ll see how it goes, but he’s a very busy man.

Also, he has a lot of dates that he already committed to this year, so I’m not sure how much of him you’ll see this year, because he gave his word to a lot of events and a lot of speeches already.”

Interest in a Longer Collaboration

Zverev revealed during his press conference at the Canadian Open that he is actively trying to persuade Toni Nadal to spend more time on tour with him. Despite Nadal’s busy schedule and existing commitments, Zverev expressed hope that a deeper partnership could develop. He hinted at the possibility of future updates in the coming weeks depending on how discussions progress.

A Surprising Post-Wimbledon Call

After Zverev’s early exit at Wimbledon, he received a thoughtful call from Toni Nadal that lasted over an hour. This gesture deeply resonated with Zverev, motivating him to visit Mallorca and spend time with the veteran coach. Their conversations extended beyond tennis, creating a connection that Zverev believes can fuel his confidence and performance.

Toni Nadal’s Influence

Beyond his coaching credentials, Zverev emphasized Nadal’s ability to inspire and instill belief through his presence and communication. Referencing interactions with both Toni and Rafael Nadal, Zverev shared how their words carry weight and influence, making them voices worth listening to—especially for an athlete striving to elevate his game.
