Nadal remains perfect in Acapulco

Rafael Nadal keeps his incredible record in Acapulco. After beating Nishioka in the quarters, the Spanish legend has now a 13-0 record in Acapulco (26-0 in terms of sets). Rafa has won the tournament already in 2005 and 2013.

The match against Nishioka wasn’t that easy for Rafa that had to recover from a one break down in both sets. In the opener, Nadal was broken in the third game (1-2), but then he broke back in the 8th game (4-4); eventually, the Mallorcan won the first set at the breaker. Things got a bit complicated also at the beginning of the second set when Nadal had to surrender his serve again in the 2nd game (0-2). Then, Rafa won 4 consecutive games (4-2) before conquering the match 7-6 (2) 6-3.

He played very well. NADAL

Rafa conceded that he didn’t play that well (especially in the first set), to comment

“It can’t go everything well all the time. There are always good and bad matches. The most important thing was to be there mentally and also winning when you don’t play so well. Of course, he played very well and was very confident, so I think it’s a good win.

When you face a player with who you never played against and didn’t see much of him, he can a little bit surprise you, especially in this case with his game style.”

The semi vs. Cilic

Rafa will play Marin Cilic in the semi-final. The head to head is 3-1 for Nadal.
