Thiem triumphs in Rio!

Dominic Thiem has finally some joy from 2017!

The Austrian was struggling with his results before playing in Rio. The world no.8 didn’t manage to achieve anything meaningful in the first five tournaments he has played so far in the season; finally, he got a very prestigious title in Rio. Dominic won this tournament without conceding a single set on the way; in the final, he defeated Pablo Carreno-Busta 7-5 6-4.

This is Thiem 8th career title.

I am feeling great. THIEM

After match, Dominic commented

“I am feeling really great. This is the best feeling you can have, winning a title. It’s all you practice for. I played five very good matches, especially in the semis and final against amazing players.

I did the same thing last year, going from clay to hard in Acapulco and I did well. It’s a slower hard court with a high bounce, so it’s what I like. It’s not easy with the travel and time difference, but the confidence is high, and I’m feeling great.”

Thiem will now go to Acapulco to try to defend his title. This will be his 7th tournament of the year. Isn’t that too much?

HAPPY TO GET THIS TITLE
