Sock wins the Delray Beach title after Raonic retires

Bad news from Delray Beach as Milos Raonic wasn’t able to compete in the final to concede the title to Jack Sock. Milos couldn’t cope with a problem to his leg.

What happened

Milos was already struggling during the recent Australian Open with his hamstring; he couldn’t compete in the recent Davis Cup tie. Raonic managed to reach the final in Delray Beach, but then he couldn’t play anymore.

After withdrawing, Milos commented

“This is disappointing in a lot of ways. I’ve been unfortunate with suffering injuries in three tournaments in a row. Being one match away from a title and not being able to compete, that’s not easy to accept.”

Curious situation

Raonic is now in a weird situation. In fact, he is ranked no.4 in the world, but he hasn’t won a title since January 2016 (Brisbane).

Sock

Regarding Sock, this is his 3rd career title, the second of the season after Auckland. The American no.1 will now break in the top20. As he said, “a title is a title.”
