Elina Svitolina ends a fantastic week in Dubai after she defeated Caroline Wozniacki 6-4 6-2 in the final. The Ukrainian impressed after beating two former world no.1 (Kerber and Wozniacki) in the last two matches without conceding a single set to both.

The final against the Dane was extremely smooth for Elina that won the decisive break in the 5^th game of the opener before winning the set 6-4. In the second set there was an exchange of breaks in the very beginning, then Svitolina won 5 consecutive games to reverse the scoreline from 1-2 to 6-2. The match ended after 70 minutes.

“It’s very special for me. I’ve played very amazing tennis this week, and I’m happy it happened in Dubai.

It’s the first trophy for me at such a big tournament, so it’s very special for me.”

About breaking in the top10

After this week, Elina will break in the top10. Svitolina commented

“I’ve dreamed it all my life to be in Top 10. It’s a very amazing feeling to enter Top 10, and do it by winning the tournament! I’m very excited for the season and very excited I could win this tournament.”

This is Svitolina’s 6^th career title, the second of the season after winning Taipei. She is now on a ten match winning streak.
