18-year-old Ruud reaches the semi-final in Rio

Casper Ruud didn’t have a great memory from his last tournament. The 18-year-old managed to reach the semi-final at the Budapest Challenger, but then he lost 6-0 6-0 to the world no.145 Marton Fucsovic and a double bagel is always a nasty experience.

Fortunately, every week has a different story, and the Norwegian is having the time of his life in Rio where he reached the final. Casper had a unique opportunity in Brazil because he didn’t have to play the qualification ( he had a wildcard), and he was extremely lucky with the draw to defeated low ranked players on the way such as Rogerio Dutra Da Silva (no.88), Roberto Carballes Baena (no. 132), and Thiago Moura Montero (no.85).  Still, reaching the semi-final of an ATP500 is a great achievement for a player of his age.

The semi against Dolgopolov

Casper will play Dolgopolov in the semi-final. They have never played each other so far. Ken the Norwegian keeps his dream alive?
