Kei Nishikori was hoping to have a breakthrough season in 2017, but things eventually didn’t go as planned. Kei hasn’t managed to win the two ATP250 events he played after he lost in the finals against Dimitrov (Brisbane) and Dolgopolov (Buenos Aires). The Japanese lost in the 4th round of the Australia Open against Federer, and yesterday, he crashed out in the opener at the ATP500 in Rio de Janeiro at the hands of world no.74 Thomaz Bellucci.
Racket demolition
During the match against the Brazilian, Nishikori had an extremely violent reaction (not his style) when he lost the first set to demolish his tennis racket. Eventually, the Japanese lost the match 6-4 6-3. Next stop, Indian Wells?
