Mirra Andreeva delivered a dominant performance to defeat No. 10 seed Emma Navarro 6–2, 6–3 in the fourth round of the Ladies’ Singles at Wimbledon 2025. The 18-year-old Russian was so focused during the match that she didn’t realize she had won until she saw her coach celebrating and the crowd reacting. “I kept telling myself I’m not the one who is up on the score, I am the one who is down,” she said. “That helped me to stay focused and in the end I completely forgot the score.”
Playing in front of her idol
One of the most emotional moments of the day came when Andreeva spoke about playing in front of Roger Federer, who was watching from the Royal Box with his wife, Mirka. “Honestly, it means a lot to me that you came and watched my match,” she said. “It’s been one of my dreams to see you in real life. So when I saw both of you I got really, really nervous.” She admitted she tried not to look in Federer’s direction during the match to avoid losing focus.
A rising star on the biggest stage
Andreeva’s win makes her the youngest woman to reach the Wimbledon quarterfinals since 2007. Her poise, power, and maturity have impressed fans and analysts alike. She will now face Belinda Bencic in the next round, as she continues her remarkable run at the All England Club. With each match, Andreeva is proving that she belongs among the elite of the sport—and she’s doing it with a smile and a sense of wonder that’s winning over the crowd.
