Harrison wins maiden title in Memphis

Finally, Ryan Harrison!

The American didn’t meet the expectation so far. Ryan was meant to have a fantastic career at the top, but he has struggled with his performance. Harrison best rank was no.43 when he was 20, but that was it, nothing better came (so far).

2017 could be the lucky seasons for the American that has won back to back the prestigious Dallas Challenger (125) two weeks ago, and yesterday he clinched his first ATP title in Memphis after defeating Basilashvili in the final (6-1 6-4). Ryan hasn’t dropped a single set in both events.

To be fair, the highest ranked player that Harrison had to beat in Memphis was Sam Querrey (no.29), then the best ranked were Basilashvili (67), Young (81), and Dzumhur (86). So, there wasn’t much greatness in it, but a title is a title!

Special winning a title in front of your family. HARRISON

After the match, Harrison commented

“It’s always special to win a title, and especially your first one. But when you’re winning it like this in front of our family and friends and people who’ve come out and supported you ever since I was playing 10 and under events … it definitely means a lot to win that in front of everybody like that.”

After this tournament, Ryan is expected to be back to world no.43, that means matching his career high. More to come?
