Hubert Hurkacz has revealed that he recently underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, marking a significant moment in his ongoing battle with injury. The Polish star, currently ranked No. 39 in the ATP rankings, made the announcement via social media, explaining that persistent pain, fluid buildup, and inflammation had made it difficult to train and compete effectively.
After exploring various treatment options, Hurkacz and his team decided that surgery was the best course of action. The procedure involved removing an overgrown synovial membrane that had been causing discomfort and limiting his mobility. The operation was performed by Dr. Bartlomiej Kacprzak, and Hurkacz expressed gratitude for the care he received.
This development comes after a challenging stretch for the 28-year-old, who tore his meniscus during a second-round match at Wimbledon in 2024 and has since struggled with recurring knee issues. He also withdrew from this year’s Wimbledon, citing irritation linked to his recovery process.
Despite the setback, Hurkacz remains optimistic. He stated that he will only return to competition when he feels fully ready, emphasizing his commitment to long-term health over short-term gains. For now, he’ll be watching the Wimbledon action from the sidelines, focusing on rehabilitation and looking forward to a strong comeback.
