Estrella wins the title in Quito for third time

Victor Estrella has a rather cozy relationship with Quito. The Dominican has won önly 3 ATP titles in his career, and all three comes from Quito in the last three years.

Victor’s feat came after he defeated Paolo Lorenzi in the final 6-7(2), 7-5, 7-6(6). Estrella had to recover from 1 set and one break down (6-7 2-4) before winning the match in the tiebreak of the decisive set. The Dominican saved a championship point when he was 5-6 down in the breaker. This “miracle” came after Victor saved three match points against Karlovic in the second round before beating the Croatian 6-7(7) 7-6(5) 7-6(8).

      

 

 


I will play here till I retire. ESTRELLA

Victor is 36 years of age, and he might still play on tour for some few years. The Dominican commented

“It’s a great achievement for me to win three titles here.  The recipe for my success here will be revealed when I retire, but for sure I’ll come back here next year. I’ll play in Quito every year until I retire. “
