Daniil Medvedev survives Karen Khachanov 6-1 7-66 in the semifinal in Montreal on Saturday after winning a huge battle. Medvedev will play Rafael Nadal in the final.

1st set.

Medvedev had a running start at the beginning of the set after breaking Khachanov in the 2nd game (2-0) before consolidating his break and lead 3-0. Medvedev extended his lead after breaking Karen in the 6th (5-1) game before managing to win the set (6-1).

2nd set.

Daniil won the set after he broke the Russian in the 3rd (2-1) and in the 9th (5-4) game. The Russian tried to stage a comeback breaking in the 4th (2-2) and in the 10th (5-5) game. However, Medvedev maintained the focus before winning the set at the following tiebreak at 6.
