New serve speed record for Samuel Groth

Australians may have a flair for speed.

Webber and Stoner are super stars in motoring, Tomic was notably very fast in driving his car to risk to go to jail (see article) and a relatively unkwown player, Samuel Groth, ranked 340 in the world blasted a serve at an incredible speed of 263km/h in a challeger in Busan.

It took some days for the ATP to validate the record after a proper check at the speed machine.

The previous record holder was Ivo Karlovic that blasted a 251km/h serve during a Davis Cup match in March last year.

The 1.93cm tall Aussie was not impressed by his record since he actually lost that match to Uladzimir Ignatik of Belarus (world nr. 272).
