Founded to raise awareness of the sport in the US, Canada, and Mexico, the Pro Padel League (PPL) is the first professional padel league in North America. With padel’s rapid rise in popularity across the globe, the PPL seeks to both introduce the sport to a wider audience and offer a top-tier venue for elite competition.
The league, which was established in 2023, has clubs from big cities like Miami, San Diego, Toronto, Cancun, and Las Vegas. A minimum of six of the eight players on each side are from North America, guaranteeing a strong regional identity but also embracing foreign talent.
The format of the league is made to be both exciting and easily accessible. Men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles matches are among the events; fans are kept interested by the streamlined timetable and quick scoring systems. The top teams compete for the title and a piece of the league’s significant prize fund in the PPL Cup Final, which marks the end of the season.
Beyond the court, the PPL is committed to promoting the sport through collaborations with clubs and sponsors, youth development, and media exposure. Since its introduction, padel has gained popularity among athletes and fans alike, solidifying its status as a major player in North American sports.
The league is now making history by traveling across the Atlantic to San Sebastian, Spain, to hold its first European event. The event, which is set for July 10–13, 2025, will be held at the Real Club de Tenis de San Sebastian. A 1,500-seat center court will be built specifically to accommodate spectators and provide top-tier tennis.
