Emma Raducanu has acknowledged the need to mentally regroup following her second-round defeat at the Eastbourne Open, just days before the start of Wimbledon. The British number one fell to 19-year-old Australian Maya Joint in a tightly contested three-set match, ending 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4).

After the match, Raducanu admitted she was feeling fatigued and emotionally drained. “I feel quite tired,” she said. “Just going through some stuff and I need to do my best to get my head in the game ahead of next week.”

The 22-year-old has been managing a recurring back issue that has disrupted her grass-court season, forcing her to withdraw from the Berlin Open earlier this month. Despite the setback, she remains hopeful that a short break will help her reset. “I think I’m just going to start with a day off tomorrow and then hopefully I can get on the court on Friday,” she added.

Raducanu’s early exit from Eastbourne may offer her a chance to rest and recalibrate before Wimbledon begins on Monday. With no seeding in the draw, her path at the All England Club remains uncertain, but she remains determined to step onto the grass courts ready to compete.
