This week, Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina are playing the “same competition” (the Rogers Cup), but the event takes place in 2 different venues. While the ladies are competing in Toronto, the men are fighting for the title in Montreal. Therefore, there is no way for Gael or Elina to see each other in the players’ box, at least this week.

The good news for the couple is that both are looking pretty good in Canada as both reached the quarterfinals with straight-sets wins in the 3rd round. While Elina dispatched Belinda Bencic (6-2 6-4), Gael conceded just 4 games to Humber Hurkacz (6-4 6-0).

Next matches

In order to access the final 4, Gael will have to face an in-form Roberto Bautista Agut strong of a 3-1 win-loss record over the Spaniard while Elina will play Sofia Kenin (1-0 the win-loss record for Elina).

Next week, Elina and Gael will be finally reunited as both will compete in Cincinnati.
