At 17 years of age, Amanda Anisimova is one of the most interesting youngsters on tour. The American teenager is currently ranked 23, and she has already demonstrated to be capable of reaching and playing on big stages after she reached the semifinal at the French Open.

Why Naomi Osaka will find her way back

During a recent interview in Canada, when Amanda was asked to comment about Naomi’s recent struggles, Anisimova replied:

“This sport can bring out some emotions. It’s not all butterflies and rainbows. She’s probably going through some tough times, but I’m sure she will be able to get through it.

Last year, she showed what a great champion she is. I’m sure that she has a great team around her, so, yeah, we’ll see how it goes.”

Now ranked no.2, the Japanese has good chances be back at the top of the rankings if she has a good run in Toronto as Ashley Barty, the world no.1, crashed out in the opener at the hands of Sofia Kenin.

Why Anisimova didn’t play in Toronto

Amanda was expected to compete in the Rogers Cup, but unfortunately, she had to withdraw because of a problem to her lower back. She is still expected to play in Cincinnati and at the US Open.
