Nishikori survives a 5 setter in Melbourne Opener

A few days ago, Kei Nishikori stated he wants to win a slam soon. Well, things didn’t start that well for the Japanese after he survived a five-setter in the first match of the Australian Open against the world no.48 Andrey Kuznetsov.

Things went immediately sideway for Kei that lost the opening set 7-5 after dropping the serve twice at the end of the set. Then, Kei won the 2nd and the 3rd set without much struggle to fall again in the 4th after she squandered a 5-2 lead in the breaker. Finally, the Japanese grabbed the match at the very end to win 5-7 6-1 6-4 6-7 (6) 6-2. The encounter ended after 3 hours and a half.
