Dimitrov wins a FANTASTIC title in Brisbane

It’s not too late for Grigor Dimitrov!

The Bulgarian disappointed for the last two seasons when he was unable to win a single title. Last year he also had a quirky way to lose in the Istanbul final after he practically defaulted following his inability to earn a match that looked already in his pocket against Schwartzman.

Besides having great tennis, another big asset for Grigor Dimitrov is that he doesn’t give up. The Bulgarian is putting things right, and he truly impressed in Brisbane where he has just won the title after defeating three top10 players. The first illustrious victim was Dominic Thiem (world no.9) in the quarters, then Milos Raonic (no.3), and now in the final Kei Nishikori (no.5).

The final against the Japanese was tricky with both players splitting the first two sets with the same result (6-2). Then, Grigor found his way in the decider, and he gained a crucial break in the 8th game (5-3) after recovering a 30-0 deficit on Kei’s service. Eventually, the Bulgarian hold the last serve at love to win the match 6-2 2-6 6-3.

This trophy means a lot. DIMITROV

This title will be extremely important for the resurgence of the Bulgarian that interrupted a two years’ drought. Grigor commented

“For me, this trophy means a lot. I’ve had the most fun I’ve ever had on a tennis court this week at Brisbane.”

It would be fantastic seeing Grigor back in the top10… and more.
