Qinwen Zheng shared her thoughts after falling to Aryna Sabalenka in the 2025 Roland-Garros quarter-finals, ending her 10-match winning streak on Parisian clay.
The Olympic champion acknowledged that her game plan was effective early on but admitted that nerves played a role in her performance. “I think my game plan went quite well, but I got tight,” Zheng said. “Then I gave so many easy mistakes after leading in the first set… I wasn’t able to stick to my plan from start to finish”.
Despite the disappointment, Zheng remains optimistic about her future, emphasizing the need to refine her mental approach in high-pressure moments. She will now shift her focus to the upcoming grass-court season, where she aims to build on her strong form and challenge for more titles.
Sabalenka, meanwhile, advances to her 11th Grand Slam semi-final, where she will face Iga Swiatek, the four-time Roland-Garros champion.
