With more than 800 courts spread among 275 clubs in Britain, the popularity boom has been fueled by a 300 percent growth in courts. With racquet sports app Playtomic claiming a dramatic increase in active users from 35,000 to 156,000, the demand for court reservations has surged.
Prominent individuals like Stormzy, Andy Murray, and David Beckham have invested in padel-related businesses and helped raise awareness of the sport. With the highest ratio of open matches—where players may join up to play against strangers—to regular bookings worldwide, the UK has also been named the most social padel nation.
As more clubs and players continue to take up the sport, experts predict that Britain’s burgeoning padel scene is only the beginning of its growth.
