FANTASTIC. Federer has an outstanding comeback match in Perth

If you were worried about Roger Federer’s comeback, now you know that the Swiss is already playing at his very best.

Roger had an outstanding performance in his first match after his six months’ hiatus in Perth. The crowd was ecstatic for seeing Federer’s back at the Hopman Cup against Evans, and the Swiss didn’t disappoint to start the match in the best possible way striking an ace down the T.

Eventually, Roger had no problems in wrapping up the match 6-3 6-4, but besides the result he stunned with incredible points and, of course, he didn’t miss the chance to show off his trademark shot: the SABR.

I would like to live it again. FEDERER

Roger was moved by the reception of the crowd to comment

“I’d like to live it again. I’m a little bit sad it’s over, because it was so nice out there. I was actually quite emotional. I thought for a first match it was great, because my expectations were obviously quite low.

The standing ovation here tonight coming in was extra special. I can’t thank you guys enough for making it a cool comeback. These 15 years have been a long time but I’m here now, and I’m enjoying myself and looking forward to the week.”

Later, Belinda Bencic sealed the tie for Switzerland after she defeated Heather Watson in 125 minutes 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. Then, Roger and Belinda teamed-up in mixed doubles to win the tie 3-0.

Roger will face Alexander Zverev on Wednesday. A good win will be the confirmation that Federer is 100% back.
