Skinner will bring my game to the next level. KYRGIOS

Nick Kyrgios is still coachless, but he understood that to get to the next level he needs at least to strengthen his body. The Australian has suffered from too many injuries due to his feeble fitness, and he decided to fix this problem.

Back in September, Nick has hired English fitness guru Martin Skinner to get his body where it needs to be, and things are already working pretty well.

Why fitness will be the key. KYRGIOS

Nick was surprised with his first match against Feliciano Lopez at the Hopman Cup where he breezed past the Spaniard 6-3 6-4. The world no.13 didn’t expect that performance because he wasn’t playing much for the past few days as he gave priority to strengthening his body. Therefore, Kyrgios thinks that his tennis level against Feliciano was so high because of his new-found fitness.

Later, Nick commented

“Yeah, he [Skinner] drives me.

I’m not the easiest person to get along with at times and I’m not a good listener, but I know that he’s pretty intelligent in the gym, so I don’t really question him too much. So he’s been working me pretty well.

I’ve never really had a really really good strength and conditioner in my team, so that was one area where I could develop and had a lot of potential to sort of take my game to the next level, so it’s pretty important for me this year and the next couple of months to put a lot of work on.”

Besides working in the gym, Nick is also using the help of a psychologist to get things right in his head and motivation. Is this the key for  a breakthrough season?
